A growth of a least 50% in the number of Russian tourists are expecting all hotels in Bulgaria, specially these on the Blacks Sea Coast, after the conversion of the former military airfield in Balchik into a civilian airport. This information was announced by Dimitar Dimitrov, head of the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association for northeastern Bulgaria, told Dnevnik.
The airport is located on the northern Black Sea Coast will serve low-cost airlines, which will provide for a significant reduction in the cost of summer holidays in Bulgaria for many Russian tourists.
Dimitar Dimitrov said as well that the launch of the airport in Balchik would lessen the traffic pressure at the airfield in Varna and also facilitate at the northern sea coast.
The airport in Balchik will be priority for many Romanian tourists, who land their privet airplanes at the airport in Varna coming to play golf. With this airport they will be in the immediate proximity of the courses.
